Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/i> being \u201cpre-empted indefinitely\u201d<\/a> starting Wednesday was welcome news to Donald Trump, who for years complained about the late night host.<\/p>\n The programming decision by ABC, which was spurred by Kimmel\u2019s comments about<\/a> the right-wing response to the killing of Charlie Kirk, was celebrated by Trump.<\/p>\n \u201cGreat News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that\u2019s possible,\u201d Trump posted on Truth Social from the U.K., where it was 1:04 a.m.<\/p>\n He went on to take aim for two more late-night hosts. \u201cThat leaves Jimmy [Fallon] and Seth [Meyers], two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!!\u201d<\/p>\n The news came two months after the president gloated about fellow late night host Stephen Colbert\u2019s cancellation and said Kimmel would be \u201cnext.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,\u201d Trump posted to Truth Social<\/a> in July. \u201cI hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!\u201d<\/p>\n A few days later, he took some pre-credit<\/a> on the same platform, while adding NBC\u2019s Jimmy Fallon into the mix.<\/p>\n \u201cThe word is, and it\u2019s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThese are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It\u2019s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!\u201d<\/p>\n Trump repeatedly took issue with Kimmel’s awards show hosting performances. \/ David Swanson \/ REUTERS<\/p>\n The instances of Trump attacking Kimmel\u2014who has frequently returned fire\u2014are plenty.<\/p>\n On the campaign trail last September, Trump called<\/a> Kimmel a \u201cdope\u201d and \u201cone of the dumbest human beings ever.\u201d<\/p>\n That March, he responded to Kimmel\u2019s jab at the Oscars<\/a> by labeling him a \u201clousy host.\u201d The previous month, he called<\/a> him a \u201closer.\u201d And in January 2023, Trump thought Kimmel was an \u201cuntalented fool.\u201d<\/p>\n The grievances stretch back into Trump\u2019s first term. In early 2018, Rolling Stone<\/i> reported<\/a>, Trump got his staff to call a top Disney executive to see if anything could be done about Kimmel\u2019s comedy. Nothing came from it. (Trump aimed for<\/a> the same thing with Saturday Night Live<\/i>, but to no avail.)<\/p>\n Before being elected, Trump appeared on Kimmel\u2019s show a few times, but each was cordial toward the other, even when Kimmel poked fun at Trump\u2019s rhetoric with a satirical children\u2019s book \u201cauthored\u201d by Trump called Winners Aren\u2019t Losers<\/i>.<\/p>\n \u201cWinners aren\u2019t losers, they\u2019re winners \u2014 like me!\u201d Kimmel read out loud. \u201cA loser\u2019s a loser. Which one will you be?\u201d<\/p>\n But after nearly a decade of Trump either being president or running for reelection, the two are poles apart, and Trump now has more tools than ever at his disposal for seeking revenge for years of mockery.<\/p>\n The reason for ABC pulling the plug on Kimmel related to part of his monologue on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
