Protests have broken out in front of the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio on Hollywood Boulevard following the star’s axing on Wednesday evening.<\/a><\/p>\n

On Wednesday evening, ABC<\/a> announced it had pulled late-night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> off air “indefinitely” over comments he made about the fatal shooting of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the 57-year-old said during his show that the “MAGA gang” was trying to score political points off Charlie’s gruesome killing. Tyler Robinson, 22, is currently in custody for his alleged involvement in the murder.<\/a><\/p>\n

The long-time host said in his Monday night opening monologue, “The Maga Gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”<\/p>\n

He also criticized flags being flown at half mast in honor of the dad-of-two, and mocked President Donald Trump<\/a>‘s reaction to the shooting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A third protester called the axing “bizarre” as they believed Jimmy was only expressing his opinion on a topic.<\/p>\n

Shortly after ABC announced Kimmel had been suspended, President Donald Trump<\/a> took to Truth Social and stated, “The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After he was taken off air, Jimmy, who has been part of ABC for almost two decades, left the show’s studio looking downtrodden, wearing a flannel shirt and cap, and rode away in a car. He is yet to speak out on his ax.<\/p>\n

It comes just months after it was announced Stephen Colbert’s Late Show on CBS will come to an end in May 2026. CBS president George Cheeks said in a press release at the time, “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
