One Chicago fans are getting an inside look at their favorite shows \u2014\u00a0Chicago Fire<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0Chicago P.D.<\/a><\/em>, and\u00a0Chicago Med<\/a><\/em> \u2014 with a new weekly podcast on Thursdays. The first two episodes of the One Chicago Podcast<\/em> dropped on Thursday, September 18 \u2014 the perfect way to gear up for the franchise\u2019s return on Wednesday, October 1 \u2014 and one of the guests was Chicago Fire<\/em>\u2018s David Eigenberg<\/a>, who shared some things we haven\u2019t seen onscreen.<\/p>\n While sitting down with Brian Luce, a former Chicago police officer who is a Chicago P.D.<\/em> producer and technical consultant, Eigenberg was asked about what the show\u2019s gotten right that makes it so special. \u201cWe get it right a lot,\u201d Eigenberg replied. \u201cWe got it right once when they didn\u2019t show it in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n He then detailed something that the cast started doing in the first season during long days outside with an empty water bottle. \u201cWe put out arms around each other, like three or four of us, and then we started kicking it and trying to get it through each other\u2019s legs, and we call it water bottle ball or something. It\u2019s stupid. We only play for about 30 seconds or a minute and a half. It goes through a couple times,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n It was something they once again did when original cast member Jesse Spencer<\/a> left as a series regular<\/a> (he\u2019s since returned multiple times as a guest star) in Season 10. \u201cWe were all supposed to go out and give a group hug, and we all walked out there, and we put our arms around each other in a group hug, and then somebody dropped a water bottle in the middle of all of us, and we started kicking it around,\u201d shared Eigenberg. \u201cWe loved it, and it was like little tears and stuff like that.\u201d But he knows, \u201cIt didn\u2019t belong in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n He also admitted that the cast has \u201ca low grade sense of humor,\u201d and behind the scenes, \u201cWe are physically aggressive with each other, male and female, not all the time, but we\u2019ve rolled around. You get in bunker gear, you want to wrestle. That\u2019s not a real thing, I think, for real firemen, but we go at it.\u201d When Miranda Rae Mayo<\/a> first joined the cast (in Season 4), he shared, she joined in. \u201cWhen she first showed up, she threw me to the ground and jumped on top of me and did some other stuff to me, and I looked up and everyone, we were laughing so hard. She started it. She buried me and I told everybody, I said, \u2018She fits in.’\u201d Ten seasons later, she\u2019s one of the leaders of both Firehouse 51 (Truck\u2019s lieutenant) and the show.<\/p>\n Then, when Eigenberg was asked about a character he\u2019d like to bring over to\u00a0Fire<\/em> from any of the other Dick Wolf shows \u2014 they\u2019re part of the same universe, thanks to crossovers \u2014 he immediately picked Marlyne Barrett<\/a>\u2018s charge nurse Maggie from Med<\/em> before sharing, \u201cWhen we did the pilot with them, people would never notice it, but I had a scene with her [and] I was playing that Herrmann and her had a thing back in the day before I met Cindy [Robyn Coffin] because Cindy\u2019s younger than him. I played it real familiar with her, and they were like, \u2018Why are you playing it like that?\u2019 I said, \u2018We had a thing.\u2019 They were like, \u2018That\u2019s not going to play in the crossover pilot.’\u201d<\/p>\n
