Those who tuned into Thursday\u2019s (September 18) edition of The View<\/a><\/i> hoping to hear what the panelists of the day would have to say about the decision by ABC, their parent company, to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a><\/i> amid publicized pressure from the FCC chairman were out of luck.<\/p>\n The lineup \u2014 including Whoopi Goldberg<\/a>, Sara Haines<\/a>, Joy Behar<\/a>, Sunny Hostin<\/a>, and Alyssa Farah Griffin<\/a> \u2014 did not discuss the issue of Kimmel\u2019s sudden stoppage during the discussion segments of the show.<\/p>\n Instead, the group started with a celebration of Haines\u2019 birthday before digging into the first \u201cHot Topic\u201d of the day: FBI Director Kash Patel\u2019s second contentious round of congressional testimony. The cohosts were, consistent with the day before, sharply critical of Patel\u2019s answers (or lack thereof) about the Donald Trump<\/a> administration\u2019s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, but they made no mention of Kimmel.<\/p>\n The second subject of discussion for the day was Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the firing of CDC director Susan Monarez. Here again, the cohosts were unsparing in their condemnation of the job he has done as secretary of Health and Human Services. After that, the cohosts moved on to other extraneous topics like internet discussions on breakups and the daily \u201cView Your Deal\u201d offering before welcoming guest Eugene Levy<\/a> to the table.<\/p>\n In response to The View<\/i>\u2018s lack of response to the issue, fans shared their discontent on the show\u2019s Reddit fan page.<\/p>\n One wrote<\/a>, \u201cI feel like I\u2019m watching legacy media \u2013 or TV, at least \u2013 commit seppuku in real time. \u201cHey, let\u2019s forever alienate (likely more than) half our audience to please a guy who will be out of power in three years. Like\u2026 broadcast TV was already circling the drain in terms of numbers. Why tarnish the one thing you still have: your brand?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWow! I am stunned there is no mention of the Kimmel situation,\u201d wrote<\/a> another.<\/p>\n The show\u2019s audience ticketing agency, 1iota<\/a>, indicated that the show was in-studio on Thursday, which means the episode was not pre-taped.<\/p>\n Previously, the cohosts spoke out about CBS\u2019s <\/a>cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a><\/i>, which many perceived as being a political move, with Goldberg saying, \u201cColbert<\/a>, we\u2019re supporting you. We got your back. I\u2019m going to wait and see what \u2014 where it shakes it out. Because I have my own thoughts, but because they are my own thoughts, I don\u2019t want to give them ideas. So I\u2019m going to hold onto my thoughts, and watch how this shakes out.\u201d That discussion, however, came several days after Stephen Colbert\u2019s initial announcement that the show would end after the current season, so perhaps the cohosts are waiting until more information comes to light before speaking out on air.<\/p>\n It\u2019s worth noting that Friday\u2019s episode appears to be taping this afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET, with guest Lily James<\/a>, so there\u2019s a chance the subject might not be broached on the show until next week.<\/p>\n The View<\/i><\/b>, Weekdays, 11 a.m. ET, ABC<\/b><\/p>\n
