Fortunately for “Camp Rock” fans, “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” wasn’t the final jam.<\/p>\n

The hit Disney Channel movie franchise starring the Jonas Brothers that came out in 2008 and 2010 is getting a third installment. The Walt Disney Company revealed Sept. 17 that filming began this week in Vancouver for “Camp Rock 3” for the Disney Channel and streaming service Disney+, with Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas reprising their roles as the band Connect 3 from the films. Also returning is Maria Canals-Barrera, with original star Demi Lovato returning as one of the new film’s executive producers.<\/p>\n

But the new installment is also getting some new stars \u2014 led by Racine native Liamani Segura.<\/p>\n

According to a news release,<\/a> 16-year-old Segura will play the “bold and determined Sage,” one of the new campers trying to score a coveted opening slot on Connect 3’s reunion tour.<\/p>\n

“I am so honored to be a part of ‘Camp Rock 3,'” Segura wrote in a post on her Instagram page.<\/p>\n

It’s the latest impressive accomplishment for Segura, who made her acting debut<\/a> with another popular Disney property, “High School Musical,” on the third and fourth seasons of the Disney+ show “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” in 2022 and 2023. Segura also has been cast in the fifth installment of Disney Channel’s “Descendants” movie series, “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” set to premiere next summer.<\/p>\n

Segura has made inroads with her music career as well, including mentorship from Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris, and singing a medley of Mariah Carey songs, with Carey in the audience, at Carey’s Songwriters Hall of Fame induction in 2022. The Hall of Famer proclaimed Segura “phenomenal” on social media. And in August, Segura released her debut EP “Dear Little Me” through Def Jam.<\/p>\n

But the “Camp Rock” casting now begs the question: with the Jonas Brothers bringing out surprise special guests for most of the stops on their tour, will Segura make an appearance in her hometown at the Jonas Brothers’ Fiserv Forum concert Oct. 12?<\/a><\/p>\n
