The release of the new single comes ahead of the band\u2019s headlining <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/distortedsoundmag.com\/thornhill-announce-european-tour\/\">European and UK tour<\/a>, which kicks off in October.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the new song, vocalist <strong>Jacob Charlton<\/strong> says, <em>\u201c<strong>Mercia<\/strong> is a song about loving someone lost in their own abyss. It speaks to the ache of giving everything \u2013 warmth, devotion, even the hope of carrying their pain \u2013 only to be met with silence and defences, by \u2018vaults\u2019 and \u2018ice\u2019. At its heart, the song is about the futility of trying to heal what resists healing, and the way that struggle leaves you altered, hardened, and haunted. By the close, the speaker admits they are sinking under the weight of their beloved\u2019s spectre.
