People R Ugly wrote \u201cWake Up\u201d during a songwriting retreat in Oakhurst, California. The mountain town setting provided inspiration for the track, with frontman Zak Dossi explaining that their evenings at a local bar \u201cpainted the perfect visual for the song.\u201d He described the track\u2019s theme as capturing that moment of \u201clocking eyes with someone on the dancefloor and realising, \u2018Even if I wake up, I\u2019ll still be dreaming.’\u201d<\/p>\n
