Earlier this month, we reported on how Lorne Michaels\u2019 promised <\/span>Saturday Night Live <\/span><\/i>shakeup wasn\u2019t <\/span>much of a shakeup at all<\/span><\/a>. The season\u2019s first three hosts follow a similar pattern. Bad Bunny will be emceeing the October 4 premiere with musical guest Doja Cat, followed by Amy Poehler and musical guest Role Model on October 11, and Sabrina Carpenter doing double duty October 18. If this announcement gives you a bit of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu, you\u2019re not alone. All three hosts appeared in <\/span>SNL<\/span><\/i>\u2018s big, <\/span>Emmy-winning<\/span><\/a> 50th anniversary special<\/span><\/a>, which aired just seven months ago. Both Bad Bunny and Poehler have hosted the show previously; <\/span>Bad Bunny<\/span><\/a> did double duty in 2023, and Poehler hosted in both <\/span>2010<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>2015<\/span><\/a> (with Tina Fey) in addition to her eight seasons as a member of the cast. While this will be Carpenter\u2019s first time taking on hosting duties, she previously appeared in Studio 8H as a musical guest in 2024. She also performed \u201cHomeward Bound\u201d with Paul Simon to open the 50th anniversary special, and later made a cameo in an iteration of the <\/span>singing bridesmaids sketch<\/span><\/a>, which was originally inspired by her song \u201cEspresso.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n These performances will mark both Doja Cat and Role Model\u2019s <\/span>SNL <\/span><\/i>debuts. Doja Cat\u2019s fifth album, <\/span>Vie<\/span><\/i>, is due out September 26. Role Model has been on the festival circuit recently, where he\u2019s brought out a number of celebrities including Natalie Portman, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Hudson, and more to dance around while he performs \u201cSally, When The Wine Runs Out.\u201d We\u2019ll see who gets recruited for his <\/span>SNL<\/span><\/i> performance in a few weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n SNL <\/span><\/i>ostensibly finalized its season 51 cast earlier this month, though Ego Nwodim announced her departure <\/span>a few days later<\/span><\/a>. Other departing cast members include <\/span>Heidi Gardner<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Devon Walker<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Michael Longfellow<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Emil Wakim<\/span><\/a>. Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Colin Jost, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Ashley Padilla, and Jane Wickline will all be returning. They\u2019ll be joined by five new players: Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, Veronika Slowikowska, and Please Don\u2019t Destroy\u2019s Ben Marshall, who was promoted from writer to cast member this season. <\/span><\/p>\n
