Party girl Malia Ann Obama<\/strong>\u2019s friends are urging her to put the bottle down and act her age if she wants a successful career in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n \u201cMalia\u2019s been working in Hollywood since she was a college student and, thanks to her family\u2019s high profile, she\u2019s gotten more experience than your average twentysomething TV writer-producer,\u201d says an insider. \u201cShe\u2019s also met a lot of the industry\u2019s biggest players.<\/p>\n \u201cThe problem is how much of her life she still devotes to partying and socializing, when now is the time she should be buckling down and showing people what she\u2019s really capable of.\u201d<\/p>\n According to our insider, \u201cShe loves living and working in Hollywood but it\u2019s the lifestyle she\u2019s become enamored with, not the grind and the inevitable rejection that comes with a serious writing career.\u201d<\/p>\n The former first daughter, 27, who now goes by the name Malia Ann, became notorious for her drinking, pot-smoking and partying as far back as her freshman year at Harvard, and pals say not much has changed.<\/p>\n Her spending habits are a major cause of concern for her parents, former President Barack<\/strong> and Michelle Obama<\/strong>. Insiders say she loves Beverly Hills shopping sprees, eating at expensive restaurants and splurging on spas and salons.<\/p>\n Still, she\u2019s managed to snag some cushy gigs despite her Real Housewives-esque lifestyle. Pals were green with envy when her family connections helped her land jobs as a production assistant on Halle Berry<\/strong>\u2019s sci-fi drama Extant<\/em> and then as a writer on Donald Glover<\/strong>\u2019s series Swarm<\/em>, her first major TV project.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s an incredible writer,\u201d gushed Swarm<\/em> cocreator Janine Nabers<\/strong> to Entertainment Tonight<\/a><\/em>.
