Jon Stewart stepped behind the Daily Show<\/em> desk on Thursday, breaking with the late-night show\u2019s usual schedule of Stewart hosting on Mondays only.<\/p>\n Following news of fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s suspension by ABC<\/a>, Stewart delivered a stinging glimpse of what a Trump administration-controlled comedy show would like. Appearing against a fake gold background, no doubt echoing the White House\u2019s new gold-plated office<\/a>, Stewart played the part of nauseously praiseful and terrified host.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe have another fun, hilarious, administration-compliant show,\u201d Stewart began the show. \u201cNow, some naysayers may argue that the administration\u2019s [free] speech concerns are merely a cynical ploy, a thin gruel of a ruse, a smoke screen to obscure an unprecedented consolidation of power and unitary intimidation; principle-less and coldly antithetical to any experiment in a constitutional republic governance,\u201d he continued. \u201cSome people would say that. Not me, though, I think it\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n Referencing the ABC suspension, Stewart added, \u201cEven before this \u2018Jason Kringle\u2019 situation at ABC, there were plenty of other people in America exercising their free speech incorrectly. So here\u2019s some examples of things you cannot say about your political opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n The host then rolled clips of conservative media denouncing calling political rivals \u201cNazis and fascists and enemies of the state\u201d and viewing people with \u201cwith whom we disagree as somehow being less than human.\u201d Stewart followed up the moral instructions with footage of Trump calling Democrats \u201cfascists,\u201d former President Joe Biden \u201can enemy of the state\u201d and people \u201canimals.\u201d<\/p>\n Stewart ended his monologue with a song dedicated to lauding the \u201cdear leader\u201d and was joined by the Daily Show<\/em>\u2018s rotating hosts and correspondents. The praise ranged from Jordan Klepper assuring Trump \u201cwe don\u2019t even notice your cankles or your bruises,\u201d to Ronny Chien commending his \u201cmassive penis, much bigger than normal,\u201d despite what South Park<\/a><\/em> may say about it.<\/p>\n Watch the full Daily Show <\/em>Clip below.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, Jimmy Kimmel Live!\u00a0<\/em>was suspended\u00a0by\u00a0ABC<\/a> following a pressure campaign from the Trump administration and media conservatives, who twisted Kimmel\u2019s words following last week\u2019s\u00a0assassination<\/a>\u00a0of right-wing activist\u00a0Charlie Kirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n During\u00a0his Monday monologue, Kimmel criticized conservatives for trying to \u201cscore political points\u201d off Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the\u00a0MAGA<\/a>\u00a0gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said on his show at the time.<\/p>\n After news of Kimmel\u2019s suspension, former President Barack Obama took to social media on Thursday morning to slam the Trump administration, writing<\/a>: \u201cAfter years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this summer, CBS<\/a>\u00a0announced its abrupt\u00a0decision<\/a>\u00a0to end\u00a0\u00a0Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u2018s The Late Show<\/a><\/em> in 2026. While the network claimed\u00a0the cancellation was financial, the decision to yank\u00a0Colbert\u2019s top-rated show\u00a0drew harsh criticism<\/a>, since the announcement came days after Colbert criticized Paramount, CBS\u2019 parent company, over its decision to agree to a settlement with President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n At the time, Stewart backed Colbert<\/a>, joining a chorus of voices torching\u00a0CBS. \u201cI understand the corporate fear. I understand the fear that you and your advertisers have with $8 billion at stake, but understand this, truly, the shows that you now seek to cancel, censor, and control \u2014 a not insignificant portion of that $8 billion value came from those fucking shows,\u201d said Stewart in his fiery tirade. \u201cThat\u2019s what made you that money.
