Jon Stewart<\/a> reported to his desk at \u201cThe Daily Show<\/a>\u201d a few days earlier than normal Thursday.<\/p>\n He was there to respond to Disney<\/a> and ABC<\/a>\u2019s startling decision to suspend<\/a> his late-night peer, Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>.<\/p>\n But Stewart took the comedy in a different direction \u2014 a gilded one.<\/p>\n He opted for a gold-encrusted background to better suit the likes of a certain U.S. president.<\/p>\n He even wore a long red tie reminiscent of those worn by Donald Trump<\/a>. So did nearly all of the \u201cDaily Show\u201d correspondents.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have another fun, hilarious, administration-compliant show,\u201d Stewart began.<\/p>\n When the audience sparked up with laughter, he appeared nervous.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat are you doing?? Shut up!\u201d he said under his breath, operating as if Trump was watching his every move. He even called New York \u201ca real sh–hole\u201d and \u201ctremendous disaster,\u201d echoing the language of the commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n \u201cSomeone\u2019s National Guard should invade this place, am I right?\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n In an environment where the removal of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d has been called a threat to the First Amendment<\/a>, the \u201cDaily Show\u201d episode was like a test run of state-controlled media.<\/p>\n
