Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> dug in his heels Thursday after getting axed by Disney execs over his dead-wrong Charlie Kirk comments, as ABC insiders told The Post the witless opening monologue didn\u2019t even register with anyone on the show as being deeply offensive.<\/p>\n The $16-million-a-year late-night darling \u2014 who\u2019s so far refused to apologize for the sick comments in order to get his show reinstated \u2014 emerged from his Los Angeles home in the afternoon, driving himself in his Audi S8 to an office complex in Century City, which houses various law offices.<\/p>\n But even with the fate of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/a> hanging by a thread, a source close to the situation said Kimmel\u2019s opening monologue on Monday night \u2014 during which he falsely claimed that a member of the \u201cMAGA gang\u201d was responsible for killing Kirk on Sept. 10 \u2014 didn\u2019t \u201cping on the radar\u201d as being particularly offensive.<\/p>\n ABC insiders claim Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s monologue didn\u2019t seem to offend anyone working on the show. London Entertainment for NY Post<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s said much worse,\u201d the source said of Kimmel.<\/p>\n Perhaps that\u2019s because Kimmel, 57, has spent an absolutely inordinate amount of time slamming President Trump<\/a> and his supporters.<\/p>\n Over the last year, nearly every monologue has been devoted to a Trump-hating homily.<\/p>\n In the nine shows in the last two weeks, Trump positively dominated Kimmel\u2019s monologues, each featuring over 10 minutes of wall-to-wall cracks at the president, including a particular fixation on the release of the Epstein files<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kimmel\u2019s show was pulled from the air \u201cindefinitely\u201d Wednesday night after the host implied that Kirk\u2019s accused killer, Tyler Robinson<\/a>, was part of the MAGA movement and claimed that Trump supporters were lying when they blamed the left for political violence.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk<\/a> as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said during his show\u2019s Monday monologue.<\/p>\n Robinson allegedly scribbled pro-trans and anti-fascist messages on his bullets before the killing and was \u201cdeeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,\u201d according to investigators and authorities.<\/p>\n FCC Chairman Brendan Carr<\/a> seized on Kimmel\u2019s comments in a Thursday CNBC interview, saying they \u201cappeared to directly mislead\u201d the public.<\/p>\n Kimmel has yet to apologize for the remarks he made on the Charlie Kirk assassination before his show got pulled from the airwaves. via REUTERS<\/p>\n A source said Kimmel\u2019s quip was no ad-lib but a joke scripted by writers that went through the usual pre-show vetting process.<\/p>\n \u201cABC is stupid,\u201d one source at the network fumed.<\/p>\n \u201cThey should have edited Kimmel. They know Trump is after him. Their standards department should have flagged it. They should have known better.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, inside the Disney-owned network, staffers are \u201cfreaked out\u201d over the decision to pull Kimmel, who began hosting his namesake show in 2003 after his ABC time slot predecessor \u201cPolitically Incorrect\u201d was canceled following controversial comments about 9\/11 by host Bill Maher<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kimmel\u2019s recent monologues have also targeted President Trump, with the majority of them to making fun of Trump while also constantly mentioning the Epstein files.
