SHEBOYGAN \u2013 Sheboygan Film Festival<\/a> has teamed up with 3 Sheeps to create a special beer for its inaugural event, set for Oct. 2-5.<\/p>\n

The beer, named “Very Big in Sheboygan,” is a German-style lager brewed with Rakau and El Dorado hops. It offers a balance of bready, honeyed malt character and notes of stone fruit and pine, according to a community announcement.<\/p>\n

The name of the beer pays homage to John Candy, the subject of the festival’s opening-night film. The John Candy line is from the 1990 movie “Home Alone,” where his character, Gus Polinski, the “Polka King of the Midwest,” says his polka band, the Kenosha Kickers, had “some fairly big hits for us, you know, in the early ’70s …\u00a0we sold about 623 copies of that in Chicago, no, Sheboygan, very big in Sheboygan, they loved it.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe three things that many people associate with Sheboygan are movie mentions, brats and beer. We\u2019re offering all three in our inaugural film festival,\u201d said Beah Travis, chair of the SFF Committee. \u201cWe are thrilled that our friends at 3 Sheeps have added their special brand of creativity to our upcoming film festival by brewing a special lager for the festival.\u201d<\/p>\n

3 Sheeps, a Sheboygan-based brewery and taproom, was initially approached about creating a custom beverage for the festival. The brewery not only delivered on that request but also became a sponsor and is hosting a special film screening during the event. InkWorks Printing, a Plymouth-based festival sponsor, printed the product\u2019s custom labels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe like supporting our local community,\u201d said 3 Sheeps Marketing Communication Manager Josh Aschenbach. \u201cWe think it\u2019s our duty as a Sheboygan company. We don’t just happen to be in Sheboygan. We love to be in Sheboygan.\u201d<\/p>\n
