According to previous rumors, the spin-off was reportedly canceled by Netflix after a few bits of it were filmed in South Africa in 2024.<\/p>\n The Rats: A Witcher Tale movie, which is a spin-off of The Witcher, is reportedly expected to arrive on Netflix alongside Season 4. This comes after reports previously suggested that the project was scrapped (via What\u2019s on Netflix<\/a>).<\/p>\n In August 2025, an insider described the project as a \u201cdisaster\u201d to The Redanian Intelligence<\/a>. The insider also stated that The Rats was \u201cworse than Blood Origin,\u201d and things didn\u2019t go well while the spin-off was in production in South Africa.<\/p>\n There is not much information available regarding the plot of the movie. However, it is reported that The Rats was set to be a prequel that would focus on the characters introduced in The Witcher Season 3.<\/p>\n The Witcher Season 4 will be out on Netflix on October 30, 2025. A teaser for the series was released with Liam Hemsworth as Geralt after Henry Cavill\u2019s departure.
