Ed Sheeran<\/a> shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon following the release of his new album \u201cPlay\u201d and recently announced \u2018Loop\u2019 stadium tour. However, the English songwriter is always thinking about the future, which includes his death and final contribution to the musical world.<\/p>\n During a Sept. 10 interview with Zane Lowe<\/a>, the \u201cShape of You\u201d singer shared more details about his album \u201cEject,\u201d which Sheeran plans to release posthumously after he dies. He explains that it will feature 10 songs he\u2019s written throughout his life and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, will decide which songs make the cut.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s actually in my will, and Cherry gets to pick the tracks for it. It\u2019s fully in there if I was to go tomorrow,\u201d he told Lowe.<\/p>\n He explained that \u201cEject\u201d will feature songs he\u2019s written \u201cfrom the age of 18 to when I pass away \u2014 just choose the 10 best.\u201d <\/p>\n He compared the project to a hypothetical scenario involving Paul McCartney. \u201cIt\u2019s like imagine if Paul McCartney<\/a> dies and there\u2019s early 16-year-old Beatles recordings and then right up to it, the 10 best of his entire career,” he told Lowe.<\/p>\n Sheeran acknowledged that \u201cEject\u201d might not be everyone\u2019s cup of tea, \u201cbut there\u2019ll be lots of my fans that would find that super interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n Although the 34-year-old artist doesn\u2019t appear to be close to his death, he seemingly just wants a plan in place. \u201cYou know how posthumous albums come out, but they\u2019re sort of unplanned. I want to sort of make a plan,\u201d he explained to Lowe, adding, \u201cbecause you never know.\u201d <\/p>\n Sheeran is indeed a meticulous planner. In March 2025, he revealed during an appearance on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a>” that he\u2019s had a ten-part album plan in the works for years.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was like 18, I had an idea for like 10 albums. It\u2019s \u201dPlus,” \u201cMultiply,\u201d \u201cDivide,\u201d \u201cSubtract,\u201d \u201cEquals,\u201d and then \u201cPlay,\u201d \u201cPause,\u201d \u201cFast Forward,\u201d \u201cRewind,\u201d and \u201cStop,\u201d he told Fallon.<\/p>\n He credited director Quentin Tarantino, who famously planned to direct only ten films, for the idea.
