On Thursday\u2019s episode of his SiriusXM show \u201cStraight Shooter<\/a>,\u201d Smith declared there wasn\u2019t \u201canything funny\u201d about Kimmel\u2019s recent comments about the late conservative activist. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe only thing that I would say as it pertains to Jimmy Kimmel is, where was the joke?\u201d Smith said. \u201cBecause you\u2019re a late-night host \u2014 and obviously that has a comedic attachment to it. Where was the joke?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He added: \u201cObviously, it wasn\u2019t anything funny about that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier this week, Kimmel made several remarks during the Sept. 15 episode of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d about Kirk\u2019s killing. In his monologue, the late night host alluded that Trump supporters are trying to capitalize off of Kirk\u2019s a<\/span>ssassination following the arrest of 22-year-old <\/span>Tyler Robinson<\/span><\/a>, who was <\/span>charged<\/span><\/a> in the shooting. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kirk was <\/span>shot and killed <\/span><\/a>while speaking with students at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

ABC announced Wednesday that it would be indefinitely suspending<\/a> Kimmel\u2019s show following his comments. Nexstar was the first to announce Wednesday that it would be ripping Kimmel\u2019s late-night show off the air for its ABC affiliates. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Kimmel has not yet publicly addressed his suspension.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Smith, who guest-hosted \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d in 2021, went on during the episode to warn that media personalities should be \u201cvery careful\u201d about what they say. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIn the times we\u2019re living in, you have to be very, very careful about what you say when you open your mouth,\u201d the sports commentator said. \u201cAnd you can\u2019t associate a political group of people with a murderer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
