Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/a> will have to wait at least a year for the surprise movie to be released.<\/p>\n

Author Jenny Han<\/strong> was asked about the movie’s release date on Thursday, September 18, during a joint appearance on the Today<\/a> show with Lola Tung, Chris Briney<\/strong> and Gavin Casalegno<\/strong>, saying, “It’s still a little too soon to say. But Sarah Kucserka, my co-showrunner, and I have finished a draft, so we’re chugging along.”<\/p>\n

Han, 45, did confirm that 2026 would be too soon. “We don’t know when it’s coming out, but not next year,” she added. “We still have to make it.”<\/p>\n

Prime Video announced on Wednesday, September 17, that they greenlit a feature film<\/a> that will conclude The Summer I Turned Pretty story. Exact plot details are under wraps, but the script will be written by Han and Kucserka.<\/p>\n
