Taylor Swift\u2019s new album isn\u2019t merely a show \u2014 it\u2019s also a movie. The artist, who is releasing her new album The Life of a Showgirl on Oct. 3, took to Instagram<\/a> on Friday to announce she\u2019s bringing her latest work to theaters for what she\u2019s calling \u201cThe Official Release Party of a Showgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single \u2018The Fate of Ophelia\u2019, along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl,\u201d the newly engaged Swift<\/a> wrote on Instagram alongside a new orange photo from her album.<\/p>\n The new film will only be in theaters from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5, Swift stated.<\/p>\n \u201cLooks like it\u2019s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan\u2026 Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged,\u201d the singer wrote. The \u201corange cardigan\u201d refers to a new version of her iconic merch, which dropped earlier this week.<\/p>\n This is not the first time that Swift has taken her life\u2019s work to the movies. In 2023, the star released a film version of The Eras Tour<\/a>, which became the most successful concert film of all time.<\/p>\n Fans have long wondered if there would be a cinematic element to Swift\u2019s upcoming album, as the artist has ventured into directing, most notably with the short film version of her \u201cAll Too Well (10 Minute Version)\u201d music video<\/a> and a planned movie in the works<\/a> from Searchlight Pictures, which she\u2019ll helm from her own script.<\/p>\n “I always wanted to tell stories. I have always written stories, poetry, songs. And I think this just grew out of that storytelling. And the more I did it, the more I loved it,” Swift said of her passion for directing on Variety’s “Directors on Directors”<\/a> series.<\/p>\n Swift has not yet released new music from The Life of a Showgirl, but she has spoken about the upcoming album being a behind-the-curtain look at her life on tour. She first appeared on her now fianc\u00e9 Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights<\/a>\u00a0on Aug. 13 to announce the new work.<\/p>\n “It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt, and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” Swift said on the podcast. She re-teamed with producers Max Martin and Shellback on the album, which was recorded while she was on the Eras Tour.<\/p>\n
