In Glenn Closes\u2019 book, this scene was a must.<\/p>\n
The actress, 78,<\/a> got candid on her choice to strip down in her new movie \u201cThe Summer Book.\u201d<\/p>\n The project is a Finnish-English-American co-production, and is adapted from the 1972 novel of the same name by Tove Jansson.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was my idea,\u201d Close\u00a0told AARP\u2019s Movies for Grownups<\/a> about the nude scene in the film, adding she \u201cthought that\u2019s something [her character] would do when no one else is around. In Finland, they\u2019re much more used to nakedness than we are.\u201d<\/p>\n One scene shows her character, Grandmother, on a fully naked during a walk in the forest.<\/p>\n Close quipped: \u201cI didn\u2019t want to put my clothes back on. It felt so good.\u201d<\/p>\n The official logline for the project reads, \u201cNine-year-old Sophia (Emily Matthews) spends the summers at her family\u2019s seasonal home on a tranquil isle in the Gulf of Finland, but this will be the first summer without her mother. Her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) remains numbed by grief while her grandmother (Close) guides her on a giddy, winding path towards young adulthood\u201d in a \u201cdelicate account of growing up and growing old.\u201d<\/p>\n While the actress plays a grandmother in the \u201cSummer Book,\u201d she recently became a grandmother in real life, as well.<\/p>\n Close\u2019s daughter, Annie Starke, welcomed her first child, Rory Westaway Albu, with husband Marc Albu this past February.<\/p>\n \u201cI now have a little grandson,\u201d she gushed. \u201cHe\u2019s almost seven months old. And I\u2019m very aware of my role as grandmother. I\u2019m very proud of it, and I love spending time with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Close, Starke, 37, and their family\u00a0all live together on a ranch in Montana. <\/p>\n \u201cOne of the reasons we live here is because we can raise [Annie\u2019s son] surrounded by nature,\u201d she confessed. \u201cHe\u2019ll know that property like the back of his hand, and he\u2019ll know the changing of the seasons. He\u2019ll know how things grow. He\u2019ll get respect for wildlife, he\u2019ll build his secret places and it will sustain him through life, as my childhood did, my early childhood running around the Connecticut countryside.\u201d <\/p>\n Which is the same reason \u201cThe Summer Book,\u201d a film \u201cabout the day-to-day, how life goes on,\u201d Close expressed,\u00a0resonated with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n Close is no stranger to baring it all on the big screen. She previously went nude in\u00a0\u201cThe Big Chill\u201d in 1983 and \u201cFatal Attraction\u201d in 1987.<\/p>\n In January, Close revealed how playing Alex Forrest in \u201cFatal Attraction\u201d allowed her to feel more confident in herself. <\/p>\n \u201cI think it was the first time people realized I could be sexy,\u201d Close said while on \u201cSunday Sitdown.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The three-time Emmy winner noted that while the movie was challenging, she enjoys taking on \u201croles that demand everything, \u2019cause they\u2019re few and far between.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite having a decades-long career on both the stage and screen, one of Close\u2019s upcoming roles was totally out of her comfort zone.<\/p>\n The star is set to appear in Ryan Murphy\u2019s upcoming legal drama, \u201cAll\u2019s Fair.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI was curious,\u201d Close\u00a0admitted to Daily Mail\u00a0<\/a>in April about meeting and working with co-star Kim Kardashian. \u201cI couldn\u2019t wait to meet her. I had never done a Ryan Murphy show before, which is a whole other universe, and I think she would be surprised at how I was. I had to find my feet.\u201d<\/p>\n
