English singer-songwriter Morrissey is cancelling his upcoming concerts this weekend due to a \u201ccredible threat on his life.\u201d A post on his official Instagram page<\/a> notes, \u201cIn recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey\u2019s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight\u2019s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n The official Instagram account <\/a>for Boston\u2019s MGM Music Hall, where he was set to perform tomorrow, released a similar statement, noting, \u201cIn recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey\u2019s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, tomorrow\u2019s engagement at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway has been cancelled.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n The former member of The Smiths is at the outset of his NUDE<\/em> tour, and most recently played a date on September 16 at New York\u2019s Radio City Music Hall without incident.<\/p>\n The cancellation comes weeks after 26-year-old Ottawa man Noah Castellano was arrested and charged with threats to cause death or bodily harm for threatening Morrissey on the social app Blue Sky. On September 4, Castellano, under an account entitled \u201cguy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day,\u201d posted, \u201cSteven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the threat, Morrissey went on to perform at Ottawa\u2019s CityFolk festival. Castellano posted $5,000 bail and is currently mandated to live at the Washington, DC area home of his father.
