Now celebrating its 26th year, the festival continues its tradition of spotlighting bold storytellers, international perspectives, and award-season favorites.<\/p>\n<p>Opening night will kick off with a screening at Regal Edwards Big Newport of Richard Linklater\u2019s \u201cBlue Moon\u201d, starring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott. The festival will close with Guillermo del Toro\u2019s anticipated take on \u201cFrankenstein\u201d, featuring Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, and Christoph Waltz, screened at the historic Lido Theater.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we celebrate our 26th year, this lineup unites the season\u2019s most exciting films with visionary filmmakers from around the world,\u201d said Gregg Schwenk, CEO and Executive Director of the Newport Beach Film Festival. \u201cNewport continues its proud tradition of showcasing films that go on to become major award contenders. We can\u2019t wait to share this year\u2019s program with our Orange County community and reveal even more special events as the festival approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the big screen, the week will include events with some of entertainment\u2019s most recognizable names. In partnership with Fashion Island, audiences can attend various talks and panels around the outdoor mall, including an Author Talk with \u201cYou\u201d star Penn Badgley, alongside Sophie Ansari and Nava Kavelin, as they present <em>Crushmore: Essays on Love, Loss, and Coming-of-Age<\/em>.
