NEW ORLEANS (WGNO<\/a>) \u2014 The touring show, Cirque Du Soleil, \u201cOvo\u201d<\/a> is now showing in New Orleans.<\/p>\n WGNO\u2019s Kenny Lopez<\/a> got the chance to go backstage at the Smoothie King Center to find out all that goes into putting on this enchanting show.<\/p>\n \u201cOvo\u201d means egg in Portuguese. The show follows a colorful colony of insects as a new insect arrives in their colony.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n The show consists of high-flying acrobatics.<\/p>\n \u201cWe bring to life this colony of acrobatic insects. We have world class acrobats. We have a seven piece band with live musicians that will play according to what\u2019s happening on stage. We\u2019ve got group acts in the air, on the ground, just a little bit of everything,\u201d Janie Mallet, Senior Publicist for Cirque Du Soleil\u2019s \u201cOvo\u201d said.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n Olympic athlete, Nansy Damianova, an aerial flyer, is part of the show.<\/p>\n \u201cI competed in 2009 Bejing Olympics for Canada in artistic gymnastics,\u201d Damianova said.<\/p>\n Cirque du Soleil\u2019s enchanting show about insects, \u2018Ovo,\u2019 coming to New Orleans <\/a><\/p>\n In \u201cOvo,\u201d she flies six meters between each platform.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we get to do acrobatics from side to other. We are thrown and caught by our hands or feet. Gives me the feeling of flying. We perform, we show what we have, and it\u2019s nice to see people react to it, \u201d Damianova said.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/figure>\n Cirque Du Soleil is also known for it\u2019s beautiful costumes.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have over 800 pieces of costumes in each performance,\u201d Mallet said.<\/p>\n \u201cOur costumes include special legs and we have special shoes that are customized and this helps us have a good grip on the walls,\u201d Wellington Lima, Trampoline wall artist in Cirque Du Soleil\u2019s \u201cOvo\u201d said.<\/p>\n Learning dance moves from \u2018Velma Kelly\u2019 from Broadway\u2019s \u2018Chicago\u2019 <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe do a circus and offer shows without animals, only with the humans imagination and talent and pushing the human boundaries. Just having this adventure two hours into the ecosystem of \u201cOvo\u201d and having a good time,\u201d Mallet said.<\/p>\n This is the first time \u201cOvo\u201d will be in New Orleans, but it has been entertaining crowds around the world for 16 years.<\/p>\n Over the years there have been about 4,000 performances of \u201cOvo\u201d worldwide.<\/p>\n \u201cOvo\u201d runs through Sept. 21 at Smoothie King Center.
