Josh Radnor, who portrayed\u00a0Ted Mosby on\u00a0\u201cHow I Met Your Mother,\u201d <\/a>for nine seasons from 2005 to 2014, is revisiting the sitcom eleven years later. <\/p>\n Earlier this year, the actor, 51, launched his rewatch podcast,\u00a0\u201cHow We Made Your Mother\u201d<\/a> alongside the show\u2019s co-creator\u00a0Craig Thomas.<\/p>\n During an appearance on\u00a0Jesse Tyler Ferguson\u2019s podcast,\u00a0\u201cDinner\u2019s on Me\u201d<\/a> earlier this month, Radnor\u00a0confessed that his podcast came to be after rewatching the CBS series with his wife,\u00a0Jordana Jacobs.<\/p>\n \u201cShe wanted to watch the show and it had been 20 years since it premiered and I called Craig Thomas, who I remained very dear friends with one of the creators, and I said, \u2018I\u2019m gonna rewatch the show, do you want to do something a little more formal and kind of like have some conversations on the record about this strange time in our lives and what it was like and what it meant?’\u201d he told the \u201cModern Family\u201d alum, 49.<\/p>\n After completing the first season, Radnor admitted, \u201cI\u2019ve actually been really delighted and it\u2019s been quite healing for me.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cLiberal Arts\u201d alum realized he was a bit critical of himself back in the day.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause I don\u2019t know if you went through this, but like, especially in the early seasons, I was incredibly hard on myself,\u201d Radnor shared, \u201cand\u2026 I found it hard to watch myself and now I\u2019m watching it with some distance and some like more tenderness and compassion for myself. And I\u2019m like, \u2018You were doing a really good job. You were doing a really good job in a really hard role.’\u201d<\/p>\n Along with Radnor, the series also starred Neil Patrick Harris as Barney, Cobie Smulders as Robin, Jason Segel as Marshall and Alyson Hannigan as Lily.<\/p>\n The CBS project instantly became a cult classic, even spearheading the spinoff, \u201cHow I Met Your Father\u201d in 2022. The sitcom lasted two seasons and ended in 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cHow I Met Your Father\u201d starred Hilary Duff, Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell and Suraj Sharma. <\/p>\n Smulders, 43, and Harris, 52, were also featured on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd it\u2019s like whatever boot I had on my own neck around it has kind of released,\u201d Radnor continued on the pod, \u201cand I\u2019ve just been like, \u2018Oh, I get why people love this show. I get why they\u2019re connected to my character.\u2019 Like I\u2019ve been able to look at it much more compassionately and kind of almost like, I love this thing.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite being open to revisiting that time in his life now, there was a period where the podcast host tried to distance himself from the character.<\/p>\n \u201cIn some ways, I always ran things through a bit of a\u00a0\u2018How I Met Your Mother\u2019 algorithm in terms of, is this far enough away from the tone of the show. I was really looking for roles that just felt really different,\u201d Radnor told People in Feburary. \u201cIt\u2019s tiring to run from such a big part of yourself and your career.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think that part of me doing this [rewatch podcast] is just to almost call a truce with it and say like, \u2018All right, you\u2019ve given me a lot. You\u2019ve taken a lot from me. I don\u2019t want to be at odds with you, so let\u2019s just turn around and see.\u2019 I think there\u2019s something that will be psychologically healthy for me about it, to re-engage at this age.\u201d <\/p>\n In May, Segel, 45, shared how working on the\u00a0long-running sitcom\u00a0made balancing his movie career difficult<\/a>.<\/p>\n
