\u201cA lot of people often ask me, oh it must be tough, you know, everyday you\u2019re reminded of your dad,\u201d Robert Irwin<\/strong>, who is competing on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars<\/em>,\u00a0 told E!<\/em><\/a> in a video posted on Friday, September 19.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say really it\u2019s not, it\u2019s actually one of the greatest joys in my life. If I can keep his sense of passion and enthusiasm and his work as an environmental advocate, if I can keep that alive<\/a> and thriving into a new generation, I\u2019ve done my job,\u201d continued the conservationist, who helps run the Australia Zoo<\/a> that was established by his father.<\/p>\n

Steve was famously known for his Crocodile Hunter<\/em> reality show. Robert was just 2 years old when his dad died at age 44 in 2006 after an encounter with a sting ray.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never expected in a million years that I\u2019d be able to do that through dance,\u201d added Robert, now 21, who is at the top of the DWTS<\/em> leaderboard after his first night competing with partner Witney Carson<\/strong>. \u201cI don\u2019t know what dad would say if he were here, but I think he\u2019d be pretty stoked!\u201d<\/p>\n

And while Robert\u2019s sister, Bindi<\/strong>, 27, won<\/a> season 21 of the long-running competition, the siblings\u2019 skills apparently weren\u2019t inherited from their dad, according to their mother, Terri<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
