THE showbiz world has been left in a state of mourning with celebrities paying tribute to broadcasting legend, John Stapleton. <\/p>\n

It was revealed this morning<\/span> that the BBC<\/a> and ITV<\/a> presenter had died aged 79.<\/p>\n

Stapleton, who had Parkinson\u2019s disease complicated by pneumonia, died peacefully in hospital early\u00a0this morning,<\/a> according to his agent.<\/p>\n

The ex-Good Morning Britain presenter\u00a0revealed his shock diagnosis\u00a0in October last year.<\/p>\n

Now, fellow TV stars have stepped forward to pay tribute to the star with various different posts.<\/p>\n

Gaby Roslin took to Instagram<\/a> to share a snap<\/span> of John in which she wrote: “John Stapleton was such a good, kind, caring man.<\/p>\n

“A truly great broadcaster with a huge heart. So sad.<\/p>\n

“My love and thoughts with his wonderful family.<\/p>\n

“John had a proper twinkle in his eye.”<\/p>\n

His Good Morning Britain<\/a> co-star Charlotte Hawkins<\/a> took to X to mark his passing, writing: “So sad to hear John Stapleton – our \u2018Stapes\u2019 has died. <\/p>\n

“He was such a brilliant broadcaster and I loved working with him on GMB. <\/p>\n

“A genuinely lovely man, it was good to see him when he came in just a few months ago to talk about his Parkinson\u2019s diagnosis. He\u2019ll be much missed.”<\/p>\n

Fellow GMB host Susanna Reid<\/a> also shared her own tribute.<\/p>\n

She regularly hosted alongside John once a week for the first year of GMB’s history<\/span>.<\/p>\n

She said online: “So so sad to hear of John Stapleton\u2019s death. <\/p>\n

“He was a legend in broadcasting, the consummate pro and always good-humoured and gracious to work with. <\/p>\n

“A huge part of GMB\u2019s story and television<\/span> history. Sending love to John\u2019s family.”<\/p>\n

Whilst Long Lost Family<\/a> star Nicky Campbell<\/a> wrote online: “I feel so sad. I worked with John Stapleton on Central Weekend Live for many years. <\/p>\n

“He was a good friend, a kind, wise and very funny man and he was a broadcasting giant. E\ufb00ortless, relaxed and incisive. <\/p>\n

“A steel hand in a velvet glove. My condolences to all who loved him. There are many. <\/p>\n

“Rest in peace my friend.”<\/p>\n

John’s agent Jackie Gill confirmed his family were at his side when he sadly passed away earlier today.<\/p>\n

She said: “John had Parkinson’s disease which was complicated by pneumonia.<\/p>\n

“His son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa have been constantly at his side and John died peacefully in hospital this morning<\/span>.”<\/p>\n

He formed half of an iconic presenting duo alongside his wife, Lynn Faulds Wood, with the pair becoming household names in the 80s.<\/p>\n
