Jake Owen is coming home later this year to share some new music.<\/p>\n
The country music star who grew up in Vero Beach recently announced a new album and a new tour that ends with his annual hometown concert to benefit the Jake Owen Foundation, according to a Sept. 12 news release.<\/p>\n
No official announcement has been made about the annual hometown concert, named The Flamingo Jam, because Owen and his foundation are finalizing the lineup of performers, according to Kat Atwood of Music City Media. No date has been set for when tickets go on sale.<\/p>\n
The new album, \u201cDreams to Dream,\u201d is scheduled to be released Nov. 7. It\u2019s produced by Owen and Shooter Jennings, according to the release. The album\u2019s first single released is \u201cLong Time Lovin\u2019 You.\u201d<\/p>\n
Owen is going on tour this fall in the United Kingdom with Darius Rucker, followed by a Florida run of concerts with Dirty Heads that culminates with the Jake Owen Foundation\u2019s annual Flamingo weekend scheduled for Nov. 14-16.<\/p>\n
Exclusive: <\/strong>Country musician Jake Owen grows charity weekend in hometown Vero Beach<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Where to eat: <\/strong>10 essential restaurants in Vero Beach include Ocean Grill, Penny Hill Subs<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Before last year\u2019s hometown show, Owen talked exclusively to TCPalm<\/a> about how his foundation has grown to become like a second job.<\/p>\n He started the Jake Owen Foundation in 2010 to raise money for St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital through Country Cares for St. Jude Kids, a fundraising program created by country music legend Randy Owen of Alabama. The elder Owen inspired the younger Owen, who aren\u2019t related, about what he could do with his platform.<\/p>\n Still, Jake Owen said he wanted to go beyond the national level and help local children and families in Vero Beach and across Indian River County. Now, the foundation benefits about 30 different nonprofits that include the local chapters of Habitat for Humanity, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and Autism Speaks. The latter hits home for Owen because his nephew has autism.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a big deal for me to be able to help my brother,\u201d Owen said. \u201cThere\u2019s lots of families in our community that have autistic children, but there\u2019s not a lot of answers and help for that.\u201d<\/p>\n To grow the amount of money raised every year, Owen needed to grow the event. It started as just a concert, but it since has added a comedy night, a fishing tournament, a songwriters\u2019 session and a 3K run. It also previously had a golf tournament and a kickball competition.<\/p>\n His goal was to grow the event every year and make the community feel like it\u2019s a part of making it happen. He wanted something for people who don\u2019t play golf or can\u2019t afford to go to the concert, which quickly sells out now.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted to just give the opportunity to everybody to feel like they could be part of the weekend one way or another,\u201d Owen said. \u201cEverybody knows by being involved, they\u2019re really helping benefit the local community.\u201d<\/p>\n He tries to make an appearance at every event throughout the weekend, but his favorite part is sitting on the side of the stage to watch others perform.<\/p>\n Jake Owen performs at the Flamingo Jam Concert, Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at a Corporate Air hangar at the Vero Beach Regional Airport. Owen, among other artists, performed Saturday night benefiting the Jake Owen Foundation. The nonprofit, established in 2010, formed initially to offer financial support on the national level to children battling cancer and other catastrophic childhood disease through St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
