A new documentary shows what NBC\u2019s cameras missed during Kanye West<\/a>\u2019s infamous rant on the Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> stage in 2018. In Whose Name<\/em>, in theaters now, shows SNL<\/em> star Michael Che<\/a> confronting the rapper for calling him out during the diatribe.<\/p>\n In case you missed it, West wore a Make America Great Again cap and reaffirmed his support for Donald Trump<\/a> during that 2018 SNL<\/em> episode. And at one point, he called out the show for having Black comedians talk about \u201ca Black subject matter like [Bill Cosby<\/a>].\u201d<\/p>\n Now, the documentary shows the aftermath of that moment, as Che finds West backstage. \u201cYou good with me?\u201d Che says in the footage, per Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cThat was f***ed up! \u2026 Why you gotta call me out on the f***in\u2019 [stage] if I don\u2019t got a chance to say anything for myself?\u201d<\/p>\n West claims he was referring to Che\u2019s fellow SNL<\/em> star Leslie Jones<\/a>, but Che disagrees. \u201cI\u2019m the Black comedian that made a joke about Cosby,\u201d he says. \u201cThat\u2019s f***ed up. Why would you do that to me?\u201d<\/p>\n West replies, \u201cAw, man, I love you though, bro.\u201d<\/p>\n And Che says, \u201cI love you, too. I\u2019m a fan. But why would you do that to me? I work here! I work here! Come on, man. \u2026 We treat everybody that come in like family, and you\u2019re gonna sell us out? That\u2019s f***ed up, man! We look up to you. We love you. What you got against us?\u201d<\/p>\n And when West says he has issues with SNL<\/em> \u201cin general,\u201d Che says, \u201cThat\u2019s cool, but airing it out like that without letting us be able to reply is kinda foul.\u201d<\/p>\n West responds, \u201cYeah, you right about that.\u201d<\/p>\n And Che adds, \u201cYou wait \u2019til the last song and then say that foul s*** to us, and we brought you in here. \u2026 You\u2019re a hero to us, man. We love you. Seriously, we love you. In 2022, for example, the Grammy winner reached out to Che on Instagram to offer him double his SNL<\/em> salary so that he \u201cdon\u2019t have to look at that pawn ever again,\u201d apparently referring to SNL<\/em> star Pete Davidson<\/a>, who was dating West\u2019s ex Kim Kardashian<\/a> at the time, per Us Weekly<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n In response, the comedian wrote, \u201cSorry, Ye, but I would never betray my friends for anything less than triple<\/em> salary. That\u2019s right, $90k per year! Full medical. Full dental. Four weeks vacay. Corner office. Plus, a pair of Red Octobers. Size 12. And you gotta make some beats for my band, The Slap Butts.
