However, instead of broadcasting the special Friday, Sinclair affiliates aired a rerun of Celebrity Family Feud<\/em>, Variety<\/em> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n Just 10 minutes before the Kirk special was set to broadcast, Sinclair issued a statement via social media announcing that it would instead premiere on YouTube. \u201cTonight, Sinclair will continue to air ABC network programming as scheduled in the late-night time period,\u201d the company wrote Friday night.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe\u00a0Charlie Kirk special will instead be available on The National News Desk\u2019s YouTube channel, ensuring viewers can continue to enjoy ABC programming while also providing full access to the special online.\u201d<\/p>\n As of Sunday morning, the YouTube video of the Kirk special<\/a> has generated just 26,000 views since it was uploaded on Friday night.<\/p>\n Both Sinclair and fellow affiliates giant Nexstar pledged to kick Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> off its U.S. stations following the host\u2019s comments about Kirk\u2019s assassination\u00a0during a Monday monologue; soon after, \u00a0ABC said is was suspending the late-night show \u201cindefinitely.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cMr. Kimmel\u2019s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,\u201d said Sinclair Vice Chairman Jason Smith in a statement. \u201cWe believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities.
