Cardi B<\/a>‘s new album, Am I the Drama?<\/em><\/a> has been certified platinum by the RIAA \u2014 and it’s only been out a day.<\/p>\n Upon the release of Cardi’s long-awaited sophomore LP on Friday (September 19), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that Am I the Drama<\/em> received platinum certification status thanks to the success of the rapper’s older singles “WAP”<\/a> and “Up.”<\/a><\/p>\n The nine-time platinum “WAP,” which features Megan Thee Stallion<\/a>, was released in August 2020, and the five-time platinum “Up” was released the following February, with both songs peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n Excluded from the Am I the Drama?<\/em> tracklist were previously released Cardi tracks “Enough (Miami),”<\/a> “Like What (Freestyle),”<\/a> “Bongos”<\/a> featuring Megan Thee Stallion, “Toot It Up”<\/a> featuring Pardison Fontaine<\/a> and “On Dat Money” <\/a>featuring Rob49<\/a>.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n Although the certification is a big win for Cardi, the streams of “WAP” and “Up” will not be recognized in her first-week numbers on the Billboard 200, as the songs were not a part of the album’s release window. Cardi mentioned this herself in a post on X back in June<\/a>, while calling “WAP” and “Up” two of her “biggest songs” that “deserve a home” on her second album.<\/p>\n “I let haters make me not submit WAP for the Grammys and at this point I\u2019m giving my fans what they want!” she wrote.<\/p>\n This isn’t the first time Cardi B has made RIAA history.
