As Disney contends with a major controversy involving its suspension<\/a> of Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, its ABC News Studios division has canceled a red carpet for today\u2019s premiere of its documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery \u2013 The Untold Story<\/a>.<\/p>\n ABC News Studios informed the press of the red carpet cancellation via email on Saturday night, a day before the event. \u201cPlease note this event will no longer be hosting a red carpet,\u201d the email reads, per Variety<\/a>. \u201cWe appreciate your willingness to attend and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.\u201d<\/p>\n That message also came just 24 hours after a confirmation email told reporters and photographers that Sarah McLachlan<\/a>, Jewel<\/a>, and M\u00fda<\/a> would be walking the red carpet. The Ford in Hollywood will still host a premiere screening and surprise performances, according to the report.<\/p>\n ABC News Studios didn\u2019t explain the red carpet cancellation, Variety adds, but the switch-up comes after days of outcry over ABC<\/a> taking Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> off air over Kimmel\u2019s comments about Charlie Kirk<\/a>.<\/p>\n Amid mass outrage over the network\u2019s silencing of Kimmel, social media users \u2014 including celebrities \u2014 are urging others to boycott Disney by canceling their Disney+<\/a>, Hulu<\/a>, and ESPN<\/a>\u00a0subscriptions. Tatiana Maslany<\/a>, Misha Collins<\/a>, and Wil Wheaton<\/a> all promoted the subscription boycott, USA Today<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n In unlucky timing for the Lilith Fair team, the documentary, directed by Ally Pankiw, premieres in the United States today on Hulu. The documentary draws from new interviews and 600 hours of footage to \u201c[tell] the history of the groundbreaking music festival featuring only women artists, started by iconic Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan and her team in the late 1990s, in opposition to systematic industry barriers that limited women from playing together on a concert bill and getting back-to-back airplay on the radio.\u201d<\/p>\n Aside from McLachlan, Jewel, and M\u00fda, original Lilith Fair artists Bonnie Raitt<\/a>, Sheryl Crow<\/a>, Erykah Badu<\/a>, Paula Cole<\/a>, Natalie Merchant<\/a>, Emmylou Harris<\/a>, and the Indigo Girls<\/a> are interviewed in the documentary, as well as Brandi Carlile<\/a> and Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>.<\/p>\n
