Erika Kirk<\/strong>, the widow of the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk<\/strong>, is sharing the final message she sent her husband before he was shot and killed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got up and I could hear him eating something in the kitchen. He\u2019d been waiting all summer to begin touring,\u201d Erika, 36, told The New York Times<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Sunday, September 21, recalling the morning before her husband was fatally shot.<\/p>\n

Because her husband left for Provo, Utah, so early in the morning, she did not get to kiss him goodbye. Instead, she says she simply texted her husband \u201cI love you.\u201d It was the final text she sent the conservative influencer before he was killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m allowing myself to feel this so deeply, without medication, without alcohol,\u201d Erika told the outlet of her husband\u2019s death. \u201cThe Lord is giving me discernment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tErika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is opening up about the moment she saw her husband\u2019s body after he was fatally shot. \u201cHis eyes were semi-open,\u201d Erika, 36, told The New York Times in an interview published on Sunday, September 21, her first since her husband was shot and killed on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Charlie was speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10 when he was fatally shot in the neck<\/a>. The podcaster was debating mass shootings and gun violence when the shot rang out from what authorities said was nearly 200 yards away. He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was 31.<\/p>\n

After her husband\u2019s personal assistant, Michael McCoy<\/strong>, called Erika and told her Charlie had been shot, she flew from their home state of Arizona to Utah. During the flight, she was told her husband had died.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking at the clouds and the mountains,\u201d she recalled of the moment she heard her husband did not make it. \u201cIt was such a gorgeous day, and I was thinking: This is exactly what he last saw.\u201d<\/p>\n

She was later greeted by a sheriff at the hospital, who told her she could see her husband\u2019s remains before advising against it \u2014 according to the law enforcement officer, the fatal bullet had \u201cravaged\u201d the podcaster\u2019s neck.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all due respect,\u201d Erika recalled telling the sheriff, \u201cI want to see what they did to my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to describe how her husband looked after he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis eyes were semi-open,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cAnd he had this knowing, Mona Lisa-like half-smile. Like he\u2019d die happy. Like Jesus rescued him. The bullet came, he blinked, and he was in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n
