Elton John<\/strong> just gave rising star Lola Young<\/strong> a surprising gift \u2014 keys to his house.<\/p>\n John, 78, gave the up-and-coming singer, 24, his house keys after losing a bet that Young’s song \u201cd\u00a3aler\u201d would hit #1 on the charts.<\/p>\n “I’m here with Lola, and I said, ‘Lola, if your single didn’t get to No. 1, that I would give you the keys to my house,'” the legendary singer began.<\/p>\n “Yeah I know, I’ve been waiting,” Young replied.<\/p>\n “It’s not there yet, and it better hurry up, but in the meantime I’m giving you the keys to the house. But can we stay the odd night?” John joked, referring to he and his husband David Furnish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “No sorry, it’s mine now,” the “Messy” singer quipped back. “Look at it, I mean, it’s mine now Jesus Christ.”<\/p>\n “Me and my big mouth,” John replied.<\/p>\n “Well there you go, this is mine,” Young retorted.<\/p>\n The video ended with Young playing \u201cd\u00a3aler\u201d and writing over a photo of the two, “I’m sure Elton spends all day wishing his house was still his too” and “sorry buddy.”<\/p>\n On X<\/a>, fans seemingly failed to pick up on the fact the stunt was a ploy to get \u201cd\u00a3aler\u201d to No. 1.<\/p>\n “Imagine writing a song so good Elton John hands you real estate,” one fan wrote. “Elton John just handed over the keys? That\u2019s a #1 win on and off the charts!” said another.<\/p>\n As of Sunday, Sept. 21, \u201cd\u00a3aler\u201d was not charting on Billboard \u2014 but John’s plea to get his home back may change that soon.<\/p>\n The hilarious video was not the first time John expressed support for the budding singer. Earlier this summer, Young appeared on John’s Apple Music show, Rocket Hour<\/a><\/em>. There, he called \u201cd\u00a3aler\u201d “unbelievable” and the “biggest smash” he’s heard in years. During the episode, he offered his house up for collateral if it didn’t reach #1.<\/p>\n “I just can’t tell you how proud of you I am, because I know what you’ve been through, and you’ve come through it on the other side,” The Rocketman<\/em> singer told Young during the show. “You’re going to have the best career because you can sing live, you are just, you’ve got the whole deal going. Take all those disappointments, as I’ve said, and all those things that happened to you and hang ups have made you much stronger.”<\/p>\n ” Lola, I’ve been listening to you ever since you started.
