Martina McBride<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s dog, Mae<\/strong>, has died.<\/p>\n The country music powerhouse, 59, revealed the heartbreaking news on social media on Sunday, Sept. 21, telling her friends and followers that she had been keeping the news close to the vest until now.<\/p>\n McBride, who is also a mother to three human daughters, Delaney<\/strong>, Emma<\/strong>, and Ava<\/strong>, shared that Mae, a Maltipoo, had passed away on May 5, 2025, after having been unwell and on \u201ca lot of medication\u201d for a while.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s taken me a while to write this, but we lost our sweet Mae on May 5th. I guess it\u2019s just taken some time to feel like it wouldn\u2019t be rushed,\u201d McBride wrote alongside a carousel of photos and video clips featuring the beloved four-legged friend and family member. \u201cShe had heart issues and was having trouble breathing, so John <\/strong>[McBride\u2019s husband] and I took her to the vet around 3 am.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey wanted to keep her, and so we said goodnight and came home,\u201d McBride added. They had her in an oxygenated crate. They called early the next morning and said she had passed.\u201d<\/p>\n McBride went on to say that she had wrestled personally with her decision to leave Mae at the vet to be monitored by the animal doctors, but she realized that no matter what she did, she would\u2019ve still wondered whether or not it would\u2019ve been the right decision.<\/p>\n \u201cPart of me wishes I had brought her home with me. But then I know if I did that I would feel like I should have left her at the vet,\u201d the \u201cMy Baby Loves Me\u201d songstress wrote. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t necessarily unexpected\u2026she hadn\u2019t seemed great for weeks and she was on a lot of medication\u2026.but still you\u2019re never ready.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe was one of a kind. Sassy and sweet\u2026she was so loved,\u201d\u00a0 McBride wrote, closing out her tribute message to sweet Mae. \u201cAnd she gave us so much in return. We love you, Mae. #maltipoo<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Those who came across McBride\u2019s post took to the comments section to share their condolences, and sent well wishes to the McBride family as they heal from the pain of losing their companion.<\/p>\n \u201cMay sweet Mae be at peace and running free with Jesus until we reunite with our beloved pets again. \ud83c\udf08\ud83d\ude4f,\u201d one person wrote, while another follower added, \u201cOmg, Martina.
