Sherri Shepherd<\/a> acknowledged Rosie O\u2019Donnell<\/a> for helping her negotiate a better contract when she joined The View<\/em><\/a> in 2007 by openly sharing the salaries of the other co-hosts.<\/p>\n In an in-depth interview with Vulture<\/em><\/a>, Shepherd opened up about her time on the ABC daytime talk show, which she co-hosted from 2007 to 2014. When she joined the show, the panelists included Barbara Walters<\/a>, Whoopi Goldberg<\/a>, Joy Behar<\/a>, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shepherd shared how when she was first offered the role as View<\/em> co-host, \u201cThey didn\u2019t want to give me no money,\u201d adding, \u201cI would have made more in a sitcom, and I got a boy with special needs.\u201d<\/p>\n After having to deal with \u201cthe tabloids\u201d calling her \u201cdifficult,\u201d Shepherd revealed how O\u2019Donnell, who left The View<\/em> in 2007, called her and \u201cwas like, \u2018Let me tell you what everybody\u2019s making.’\u201d<\/p>\n According to Shepherd, O\u2019Donnell told her that she was making $2 million, while Behar and Hasselbeck were on $500,000. \u201cSo you need to ask for $2 million,\u201d Shepherd recalled O\u2019Donnell saying.<\/p>\n \u201cThey had offered me $400,000,\u201d the comedian added. \u201cI eventually made a million, too. I always will credit Rosie O\u2019Donnell for being free with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
