The radio host also spoke out against government overstep, citing his own experiences with the FCC.<\/p>\n \u201cSomeone\u2019s gotta step up and be fucking saying, \u2018Hey, enough. We\u2019re not gonna bow,’\u201d Stern said on his SiriusXM show Monday morning (via The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>). \u201cNow it might sound stupid, but the thing I did this morning, I\u2019m canceling my Disney+. I\u2019m trying to say with the pocketbook that I do not support what they\u2019re doing with Jimmy.\u201d<\/p>\n At the heart of Kimmel\u2019s suspension was FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatening ABC over comments the late night host made about the death of Charlie Kirk. Stern has a long history of scrutiny from the government agency, with the FCC handing out a total of $2.5 million in fines for \u201cindecent\u201d content to radio station owners who carried his show between 1990 and 2004. This ultimately led to him leaving terrestrial radio for Sirius.<\/p>\n \u201cI just know when the government begins to interfere, when the government says, I\u2019m not pleased with you, so we\u2019re gonna orchestrate a way to silence you,\u201d Stern continued. \u201cIt\u2019s the wrong direction for our country. And I should know, I\u2019ve been involved in something like this, and now ABC is put in the same position, and it\u2019s unfortunate that ABC even has to be in this position. They shouldn\u2019t have to be in this position.
