“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is returning less than a week after being pulled by ABC, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company.<\/p>\n
Kimmel’s show is set to return on Tuesday, Sept. 22, according to a statement released by Disney to USA Today.<\/p>\n
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a\u00a0tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” Disney said in the statement, released Monday, Sept. 22. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.\u00a0We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”<\/p>\n
ABC pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” off the air Sept. 17 after\u00a0Brendan Carr<\/a>, chairman of the FCC, pressured the network to take action over comments Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer. Kimmel had said on his show Sept. 15 that the “MAGA gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”<\/p>\n Several had spoken out<\/a> about Kimmel’s suspension, including other television hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and Seth Meyers, who spoke out in episodes that aired on Sept. 18, one day after Kimmel had been suspended. Fallon rooted for the return of his fellow late-night host, while Stewart called President Trump ‘perfectly tinted.’ Meyers also made comments about the president.<\/p>\n “Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs on ABC, and can also be streamed on Hulu.
