Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough<\/a><\/strong> is expecting his first baby with his wife, former DWTS troupe member Hayley Erbert<\/a><\/strong>, and he’s very excited. The couple announced the baby news via Instagram<\/a> in late July, and Hough shared some sweet tidbits about how eager he is during a recent interview.<\/p>\n While visiting The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/a> on September 18, Hough admitted that sometimes he “forgets” his wife is pregnant. He said that sometimes, “I’m doing things and I just glance over there and I see her bump, I’m like, ‘Whoa! I’m gonna be a dad!'”<\/p>\n Hough sweetly shared he “cannot wait” to become a dad for the first time.<\/p>\n “I felt the baby kick…I get emotional just thinking about it every time I talk about it. I felt the baby kick for the first time and it was that feeling that everybody talks about and describes where all of a sudden everything became vivid, and, like, different.”<\/p>\n Derek Hough, The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Hough added that feeling the baby kick made it real that he’s on the brink of doing something he’s never experienced before, and he reiterated, “I just can’t wait.”<\/p>\n Hough stuck around The Jennifer Hudson Show to play a round of “That’s So Extra” with Hudson<\/a>. During that segment, he shared another sweet comment about fatherhood.<\/p>\n During the “game,” Hudson listed several things people do that might be considered “extra,” like “never repeating an outfit.”<\/p>\n When Hudson asked Hough whether it was “extra” to coordinate outfits with a significant other, Hough paused. He admitted he wasn’t entirely opposed to the concept, and suggested he goes with what Erbert wants on that front.<\/p>\n In addition, Hough acknowledged that once he and Erbert have their baby, it may be something he simply cannot resist doing. “You know, a little mini version? That’d be amazing.”<\/p>\n Hough and Erbert’s journey to become parents is an exciting next chapter for the pair. As People noted<\/a>, in December 2023, Erbert was rushed to the hospital with a cranial hematoma.<\/p>\n Erbert’s medical emergency happened just months after she and Hough wed. As she was rushed into surgery, Hough recalled the doctors telling him she might not make it.<\/p>\n Luckily, Erbert fully recovered and even returned to dancing.
