Joshua Jackson<\/strong> <\/a>and Katie Holmes<\/strong><\/a> leaned on each other for support as they took their final bows following the Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em><\/a> reunion.<\/p>\n

Jackson and Holmes, who portrayed Pacey Witter and Joey Potter, respectively, on the WB series, could be seen holding hands and placing their heads on each other\u2019s shoulders as they wrapped up their performance<\/a> at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway on Monday, September 22.<\/p>\n

The pair were joined by the rest of the show\u2019s cast including Michelle Williams<\/strong>, Kerr Smith<\/strong>, John Wesley Shipp<\/strong>, Mary Margaret Humes<\/strong>, Meredith Monroe<\/strong>, Busy Philipps<\/strong>, Mary Beth Piel<\/strong> and Nina Repeta<\/strong>, along with show creator Kevin Williamson<\/strong>, following a read-through of the pilot script.<\/p>\n

When the show\u2019s theme, \u201cI Don\u2019t Wanna Wait\u201d by Paula Cole<\/strong>, began to play, the cast linked arms and Philipps, 46, encouraged the crowd to participate in a sing-along. Two of James Van Der Beek\u2019s<\/strong> <\/a>children then took the stage to belt out the song\u2019s final verses. Van Der Beek\u2019s wife, Kimberly<\/strong>, and the rest of their children joined them shortly after.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDawson\u2019s Creek ended in 2003, and for more than two decades fans have been wanting a reunion \u2014 but what did the cast think? OG stars James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams have hinted at the possibility for years, but it wasn\u2019t until August 2025 that the cast announced that [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Monday\u2019s event was organized to raise money for F Cancer in honor of Van Der Beek, 48, who is currently battling stage III colon cancer. While the actor was initially scheduled to voice his character, Dawson Leery, he announced earlier on Monday that he wouldn\u2019t be able to attend<\/a> due to illness. Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/strong> instead took over the titular role.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the evening I\u2019d been looking forward to MOST since my angel Michelle Williams said she was putting it together, way back in January\u2026 So you can imagine how gutted I was when two stomach viruses conspired to knock me out of commission and keep me grounded at the worst possible moment,\u201d he wrote via Instagram. \u201cDespite every effort\u2026 I won\u2019t get to be there. I won\u2019t get to stand on that stage and thank every soul in the theater for showing up for me, and against cancer, when I needed it most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimberly later confirmed via social media<\/a> comments that she would still be there with their children. (The couple share daughters Olivia, 14, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 8, and Gwendolyn, 6, and sons Joshua, 12, and Jeremiah, 3.)<\/p>\n

Ahead of the show, Kimberly was spotted at the venue taking photos of people in line waiting to enter, telling fans, \u201cThis is for James!\u201d<\/p>\n

The start of the event featured Jackson and Holmes taking the stage first before the lights dimmed and a special video from Van Der Beek played for the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m not there,\u201d Van Der Beek began. \u201cI can\u2019t believe I don\u2019t get to hug my castmates, my beautiful cast, in person, and I just wanted to stand on that stage and thank every single person in this theater for being here tonight. From the cast to the crew to everybody who donated their time and has been so generous. And especially every single last one of you. You\u2019re the best fans in the world. Thank you for coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also praised Miranda for agreeing to attend at the last minute, saying the cast wanted to find an \u201cunderstudy\u201d who \u201cbasically, you would never believe we got to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
