The Late Show<\/em> host Stephen Colbert<\/strong> celebrated that he was \u201conce again\u201d the \u201conly martyr in late night\u201d as he cheered Disney\u2019s reinstatement of his ABC rival Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Kimmel\u2019s show had been abruptly and \u201cindefinitely\u201d pulled last week after backlash over remarks made about MAGA\u2019s response to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk<\/strong>. On Monday, however, Disney announced that Kimmel\u2019s show would return<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kicking off his Monday night monologue, the host began: \u201cIt\u2019s always nice to start the show with some good news. Well, just a few hours before we taped this broadcast, we got word that our long national late-nightmare is over because Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> will return to air on ABC tomorrow, Tuesday night.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCome on!\u201d he shouted, as the crowd erupted.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cThis is wonderful news for my dear friend Jimmy and his amazing staff. They continue their show. You know, I\u2019m so happy for them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPlus, now that Jimmy\u2019s not being canceled, I get to enjoy this again,\u201d Colbert joked, raising his Emmy award<\/a>, jabbing: \u201cOnce more, I am the only martyr in late night.\u201d<\/p>\n With Disney\u2019s reverse decision on Kimmel, Colbert didn\u2019t miss a chance to land a dig at his own network: \u201cWait. Unless, CBS, you want to announce anything? Huh? Still no? Right, because of the money thing, I forgot.\u201d<\/p>\n The host\u2019s own tenure is set to expire in May 2026.
