The story of Lee Roy Chapman is going to be placed on the silver screen, kind of. The new FX show “The Lowdown<\/a>” will capture a story inspired by one of Tulsa’s public historians and journalists, led by Oscar-nominated actor Ethan Hawke.<\/p>\n

“The Lowdown,” Sterlin Harjo’s follow-up to “Reservation Dogs,” is a mystery comedy, as described by The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. The premiere hits screens on Tuesday, Sept. 23, with several filming locations in Osage County<\/a> and may have overlap with “Killers of the Flower Moon.”<\/p>\n

When does ‘The Lowdown’ premiere?<\/h2>\n

“The Lowdown<\/a>” will air on FX at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The episode will be available the next day on demand, starting Wednesday on Hulu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the two-episode premiere on Sept. 23, a new episode will premiere each following Tuesday at 8 p.m. on FX. The new series is also coming to Disney+ internationally, and it will be available via Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers.<\/p>\n

What is ‘The Lowdown’ about?<\/h2>\n

“The Lowdown” follows the story of Lee Rayborn, who was inspired by the late Tulsa citizen journalist and self-taught historian Lee Roy Chapman. Chapman died in 2015 at the age of 46.<\/p>\n

Four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke<\/a> portrays the self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” with an obsession with truth-telling that consistently gets him in trouble.<\/p>\n

Although Lee\u2019s no idealist, he’s on an ongoing mission to unearth the city\u2019s hidden rot that often pulls him away from his 14-year-old daughter Francis (Ryan Kiera Armstrong, “Skeleton Crew”), a precocious teenager who\u2019s inherited her father’s curiosity and yearns to join him on his adventures.<\/p>\n

In addition to Ethan Hawke’s lead, the cast includes Tim Blake Nelson (“Captain America: Brave New World”), Jeanne Tripplehorn (“The Gilded Age”), Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Keith David (“Armageddon”), Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Skeleton Crew”), Rachel Crowl (“And Then There Was Eve”), Dale Dickey (“A Love Song”) and Zachary Booth (“Keep the Lights On”).<\/p>\n
