Stephen Colbert<\/a> is celebrating once again being the only canceled host across late-night after ABC announced on Monday (September 22) it would be lifting Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s suspension.<\/a><\/p>\n Ahead of Monday\u2019s edition of The Late Show<\/em><\/a>, Colbert shared a message on Instagram<\/a> alongside a preview clip, writing, \u201cThis martyrdom ain\u2019t big enough for the both of us!\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel was \u201csuspended indefinitely\u201d on Wednesday (September 17) over comments he made about Charlie Kirk<\/a>\u2018s fatal shooting on Monday\u2019s (September 15) Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em><\/a>. This came after powerful station group Nexstar announced it would preempt the show on its 32 ABC affiliate stations late Wednesday.<\/p>\n \u201cJust a few hours before we taped this broadcast, we got word that our long, national late-nightmare is over,\u201d Colbert said at the top of Monday\u2019s show. \u201cBecause Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> will return to air on ABC tomorrow, Tuesday night. Come on!\u201d<\/p>\n After saying, \u201cThis is wonderful news for my dear friend Jimmy and his amazing staff,\u201d Colbert grabbed his recently won Emmy trophy and said, \u201cNow that Jimmy\u2019s not being canceled, I get to enjoy this again!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOnce more, I\u2019m the only martyr in late nights,\u201d the host continued before turning to the camera and quipping, \u201cUnless, CBS, you want to announce anything? Still no? Right, because of the money thing, I forgot.\u201d<\/p>\n CBS canceled The Late Show<\/em> back in July, with its final episode set to air in May 2026.\u00a0CBS and its parent company, Paramount, have said<\/a> only financial circumstances contributed to the decision.<\/p>\n Colbert had his theories on why Disney \u201cfolded\u201d and reinstated Kimmel. \u201cAfter Kimmel was suspended, Google searches for \u2018cancel Disney Plus\u2019 and \u2018cancel Hulu\u2019 spiked, which, explains why the other trending search was \u2018how to entertain feral child without Bluey<\/em><\/a>?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cSo Disney put Kimmel back on because you, the American people, were upset,\u201d the comedian continued. \u201cBut not just people, also Ted Cruz<\/a>, one of the conservatives who were outraged by the administration\u2019s attack on free speech.\u201d<\/p>\n On his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz<\/em><\/a>, on Friday (September 19), Cruz spoke about Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission chairman\u00a0Brendan Carr, who\u00a0told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson<\/a>, \u201cWe can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there\u2019s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s right out of\u00a0Goodfellas<\/em>,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cThat\u2019s right, out of a mafioso coming into a bar, going, \u2018Nice bar you have here.
