Filmmaker Edward Burns<\/a> launched his career with the 1995 indie movie \u201cThe Brothers McMullen<\/a>.”<\/p>\n This fall, he\u2019s continuing the story with \u201cThe Family McMullen<\/a>,\u201d a movie he filmed in New Jersey.<\/p>\n The sequel, which will be in theaters for one day next month (see details below), spent 19 days filming in Jersey in April and May, the state Economic Development Authority tells NJ Advance Media. <\/p>\n The production reported spending $8.4 million in the state and received a $3 million tax credit.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Brothers McMullen<\/a>,\u201d which Ed Burns<\/a> wrote, directed and starred in, won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995 and the Independent Spirit Award for best first feature. <\/p>\n The movie, which grossed more than $10 million, is about three brothers from an Irish American family, their love lives and life problems. <\/p>\n Burns stars as Finbar \u201cBarry\u201d McMullen. Michael McGlone<\/a> and Jack Mulcahy<\/a> play his brothers, Patrick and Jack.
