She\u2019s alive! Warner Bros. Pictures<\/a> has released the first trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal<\/a>\u2019s monster movie \u201cThe Bride<\/a>\u201d starring Jessie Buckley<\/a> and Christian Bale<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s official synopsis reads: \u201cA lonely Frankenstein<\/a> travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aid of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police and a wild and radical social movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspired by James Whale<\/a>\u2019s \u201cBride of Frankenstein<\/a>\u201d and Mary Shelley<\/a>\u2019s 1818 \u201cFrankenstein<\/a>\u201d novel, \u201cThe Bride<\/a>\u201d stars Buckley<\/a> in the titular role, while Bale will play Frankenstein\u2019s monster. The cast also includes Pen\u00e9lope Cruz<\/a> as Myrna<\/a>, Annette Bening<\/a>, Peter Sarsgaard<\/a>, Julianne Hough<\/a> and Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In April 2024, Maggie Gyllenhaal posted first look photos, including a camera test with Bale in full Frankenstein makeup.<\/p>\n
