“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”\u00a0is coming back nearly a week after it was suspended indefinitely<\/a> following the host’s comments on the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n In a statement to USA TODAY on Sept. 22, Disney said it decided to bring the show back after “having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy” over the last few days. The reversal follows\u00a0a backlash in Hollywood<\/a>\u00a0and a mounting\u00a0boycott campaign against Disney<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kimmel’s first show will air on Tuesday, Sept. 23.<\/p>\n Last week, Disney pulled the ABC late-night show off the air after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr seemingly threatened ABC, Disney and Kimmel after Kimmel criticized supporters of President Donald Trump for “doing everything they can to score political points from [Kirk’s assassination]” during his opening monologue.<\/p>\n Following Carr’s comments, Nexstar Media Group Inc. said it would stop airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”<\/a> on its local ABC affiliates, which was shortly followed by the Sinclair Broadcasting Group also declaring it too would indefinitely preempt the show from its ABC affiliates.<\/p>\n Here’s what you need to know and how to watch the return of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”<\/p>\n Sinclair and Nexstar each announced this week they’re still not going to carry “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on their ABC affiliates.<\/p>\n “Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming,” the company said on social media<\/a> on Sept. 22. The company previously demanded<\/a> that Kimmel apologize\u00a0to Kirk’s family, as well as “make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.”<\/p>\n Nexstar followed suit the next day, saying in a news release<\/a> it still stands by its decision to preempt the show, and will instead “[continue] to produce local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets” in the meantime.<\/p>\n “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is set to return Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10:35 p.m. CT.
