Matthew McConaughey recently sat down with The Guardian<\/a> and revealed he got scolded by his brothers for refusing to do rom-coms.<\/p>\n McConaughey went on a break from Hollywood as he wanted to land roles that were outside of the romantic comedy genre. However, he kept getting rom-com offers, which he continuously rejected. Speaking of his brothers\u2019 reaction to his acting break, the actor said, \u201cMy brothers were like: \u2018Little brother, what is your major mal-f\u2014\u2013g-function? What are you thinking?\u2019 And I was like: \u2018No, this is clear to me and Camila, we\u2019re going to do this. We\u2019re not going to pull parachute. We\u2019re gonna ride this.\u2019 And 20 months later, the levee broke and the offers came in that I wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n In another conversation on The Diary of a CEO podcast, McConaughey<\/a> recalled how he turned down an offer worth $14.5 million for a rom-com. The Interstellar star noted, \u201cI was getting quantity, but I wasn\u2019t getting the quality. What I want to do is dramas, but Hollywood won\u2019t offer me one, no matter how big a pay cut I take. If I can\u2019t do what I want to do, I\u2019m going to quit doing what I\u2019ve been doing. No more rom-coms.\u201d<\/p>\n He revealed that he got offers worth $8 million, $12 million, and $14.5 million.
