Plus, MTV completely ghosted the show\u2019s social media accounts. Now that the news is official, Nev and his original co-host, Max Joseph<\/span>, are speaking out about the show\u2019s 12-year run.<\/p>\n Fans of Catfish have spent the last year scouring for details about the show\u2019s future. Last month, Nev announced that he had started a new career in real estate<\/a>, which seemed to suggest that the show wouldn\u2019t return.<\/p>\n This week, multiple sources spoke to Variety<\/a>, and they confirmed that MTV pulled the plug<\/a>. The show is over. Nev and Max, who is still sporting that signature white hair, jumped onto an Instagram video to address the show\u2019s end.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter 12 years, almost 300 episodes, and just a lot of traveling around this incredible country, a lot of phone calls, a lot of FaceTimes, a lot of reverse image searches, Catfish has officially been canceled,\u201d Nev said in the video.<\/p>\n Max teased, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s just on pause. I was about to come back!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe point is, Catfish as we\u2019ve known it is over, which is sad,\u201d Nev continued. \u201cBut at the same time, what an incredible journey it\u2019s been. First of all, huge, huge thank you to our crew.\u201d<\/p>\n Nev went on to thank all of the people who supported the show behind the scenes. Curiously, he failed to mention Kamie in his farewell message to Catfish<\/a>. She previously revealed that they hadn\u2019t spoken<\/a> since her exit, so make of that what you will. However, 12 hours after posting the farewell video, Nev later updated it with a comment: \u201cAnd a HUGE thank you to Kamie too, of course!\u201d<\/p>\n On the other hand, Nev did express plenty of gratitude to the fans and to Max for his years on the show. He concluded the message with a hilarious callback to one of the show\u2019s most iconic moments.<\/p>\n \u201cMax, I\u2019m grateful to you for really being there from day one,\u201d Nev continued.
