Here comes \u201cThe Bride!<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n Or, \u201chere comes the mother f—ing bride\u201d!<\/p>\n That\u2019s how the bold trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal<\/a>\u2019s upcoming Bride of Frankenstein movie prefers to say it.<\/p>\n The Oscar-nominated director helmed part of the tale in New Jersey with Jersey talent behind the scenes (see details and trailer below).<\/p>\n Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley<\/a> and Oscar winner Christian Bale<\/a> star in the film, which takes place in 1930s Chicago.<\/p>\n Bale, who plays Frankenstein (Frankenstein\u2019s monster), consults with the scientist Dr. Euphronious, played by Oscar nominee Annette Bening. He wants Euphronious to make him a companion, so they resurrect a woman who has been murdered.<\/p>\n Buckley plays this Bride in the story that, per distributor Warner Bros., promises \u201ca wild and radical cultural movement\u201d and \u201coutlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance.\u201d<\/p>\n In the trailer, Bale\u2019s \u201cFrankie\u201d stomps out a man who menaces the couple on the street.<\/p>\n \u201cUntil death do us part,\u201d he tells Buckley\u2019s Bride in his breathy Frankenstein voice.<\/p>\n \u201cThrilled (and a little terrified) to give you a peek at my new baby,\u201d Gyllenhaal<\/a> said, sharing the trailer on Instagram Tuesday. \u201cHere we go. Are you ready??\u201d<\/p>\n TB<\/p>\n The movie, which Gyllenhaal wrote, is her take on James Whale\u2019s \u201cBride of Frankenstein<\/a>,\u201d starring Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester, the 1935 movie sequel to \u201cFrankenstein<\/a>\u201d (1931).<\/p>\n The first film was based on a Peggy Webling play, an adaptation of Mary Shelley\u2019s gothic novel \u201cFrankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus<\/a>,\u201d published in 1818.<\/p>\n Gyllenhaal has worked with Buckley before. The director received an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay for her feature directorial debut, \u201cThe Lost Daughter<\/a>,\u201d for which Buckley was nominated for best supporting actress.<\/p>\n Former Batman Bale, who received Oscar nominations for \u201cAmerican Hustle,\u201d \u201cThe Big Short\u201d and \u201cVice,\u201d won an Academy Award in 2011 for \u201cThe Fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n Oscar winner Pen\u00e9lope Cruz<\/a> (she won for \u201cVicky Cristina Barcelona\u201d in 2008) is also in the movie along with Peter Sarsgaard<\/a>, Gyllenhaal\u2019s husband, and her brother, Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Trailer contains profanity<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cI am so proud of my radical, powerful, disobedient wife,\u201d Peter Sarsgaard said on Instagram, sharing the trailer. \u201cRun for your lives: HERE. COMES. THE BRIDE!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Bride!\u201d was originally scheduled for release last year on Sept. 26 and is now headed to theaters March 6. The movie will also be in IMAX.<\/p>\n Gyllenhaal filmed in the old Washington Street trolley tunnel<\/a> in Newark. The trolley, which used to drop people off at city department stores, was also used in \u201cThe Walking Dead<\/a>.\u201c<\/p>\n Oscar-nominated \u201cJoker\u201d cinematographer<\/a> Lawrence Sher<\/a>, who grew up in Teaneck<\/a>, said he filmed a \u201cvery major scene\u201d in \u201cThe Bride!\u201d in the old trolley tunnel<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI really wanted that film<\/a>, so I was really excited when Maggie chose me to do it,\u201d Sher told NJ Advance Media last year of working on \u201cThe Bride!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s one of the best scripts<\/a> I\u2019ve ever read,” he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat one, I think, has an opportunity to be one of the real special ones of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n TT<\/p>\n Plus, he had stars Buckley and Bale on his actor wishlist.<\/p>\n Sher\u2019s Oscar-winning \u201cJoker\u201d collaborator, composer Hildur Gudnad\u00f3ttir<\/a>, scored \u201cThe Bride!\u201d<\/p>\n The movie also boasts the work of Oscar-winning costume designer Sandy Powell<\/a> (\u201cShakespeare in Love,\u201d \u201cThe Aviator,\u201d \u201cThe Young Victoria\u201d), Oscar-nominated editor Dylan Tichenor<\/a> (\u201cThere Will Be Blood,\u201d \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d) and Oscar-nominated production designer Karen Murphy<\/a> (\u201cElvis\u201d).<\/p>\n \u201cThe Bride!\u201d will be in theaters March 6<\/i>.<\/p>\n Read the original article on NJ.com<\/a>.
