(FOX40.COM) \u2014 California Governor Gavin Newsom is expected to be a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, according to the show\u2019s Instagram story<\/a>. The Late Show is an American late-night news talk show hosted by actor and comedian Stephen Colbert. It premiered on Sept. 8, 2015.<\/p>\n Roseville teacher under investigation after alleged Charlie Kirk posts that celebrate his murder <\/a><\/p>\n It is unclear what topics will be discussed, but the feature comes one day after Disney announced it was bringing back the \u2018Jimmy Kimmel Live\u2019 show<\/a> after it was pulled from the air<\/a> for comments Kimmel made about the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n Kirk, 31, was\u00a0shot and killed on Sept. 10<\/a>\u00a0during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Utah. Kirk is the founder of the non-profit organization,\u00a0Turning Point USA<\/a>, and a close ally of President Donald Trump. He played an influential role in rallying young Republican voters.<\/p>\n Several California teachers go on leave after allegedly celebrating Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder <\/a><\/p>\n In Kirk\u2019s Sept. 15 monologue, which followed Kirk\u2019s death, Kimmel said, \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel also criticized how President Donald Trump grieved Kirk\u2019s death. Subsequently, his show was removed from Disney, Sinclair and Nexstar airways on Sept. 17. Nexstar is the parent company of FOX40. Stephen Colbert was vocal about disagreeing with the network\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n After a week-long suspension, Jimmy Kimmel is set to return to late-night television Tuesday.<\/p>\n \u201cOur long, national late-nightmare is over,\u201d Colbert said after the news broke on Sept. 22.<\/p>\n Newsom also condemned Kimmel\u2019s suspension, but celebrated his return.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a win for free speech everywhere,\u201d Newsom said.<\/p>\n The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weekday nights at 11:30 p.m. on CBS.<\/p>\n Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
