Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s<\/strong> first monologue after his show returned<\/a> from suspension<\/a> got a warm reception on MSNBC right after it aired, drawing effusive praise from the host and panelists on Tuesday\u2019s episode of The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle<\/em>.<\/p>\n Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> was indefinitely suspended<\/a> by ABC after comments<\/a> Kimmel made about Tyler Robinson<\/strong>, the 22-year-old charged<\/a> with the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d said Kimmel<\/a>\u00a0on the Sept. 15 episode.<\/p>\n President Donald Trump<\/strong> and other Republicans lauded the suspension while Kimmel\u2019s supporters denounced<\/a>\u00a0it as censorship<\/a>, since it came in the aftermath of vociferous criticism from the president and comments<\/a> from his Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr<\/strong> that his agency \u201ccan do this the easy way or the hard way<\/a>\u201d if companies don\u2019t \u201cfind ways to change conduct and take action.\u201d<\/p>\n On Monday, Disney announced<\/a> that Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> would be returning on Tuesday, after \u201cthoughtful conversations with Jimmy\u201d about comments that \u201cwere\u00a0ill-timed and thus insensitive.\u201d Nexstar and Sinclair announced they would not be airing<\/a> Kimmel\u2019s show on the dozens of local ABC affiliates that they own.<\/p>\n Tuesday night, Kimmel thanked<\/a> his supporters and emphasized that it was \u201cnever my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,\u201d choking up as he spoke about Kirk\u2019s death. He was far more combative when speaking about Trump \u2014 who threatened to sue ABC in a furious Truth Social post<\/a> shortly before the show aired \u2014 and FCC chairman Carr.<\/p>\n Stephanie Ruhle<\/strong> was joined by Status newsletter founder Oliver Darcy<\/strong>, Media Matters president Angelo Carusone<\/strong>, MSNBC columnist and political analyst Charlie Sykes<\/strong>, and MSNBC contributor and former Rep. Carlos Cubelo<\/strong> (R-FL).<\/p>\n Carusone remarked that Kimmel \u201cdidn\u2019t double down,\u201d which he expected, and highlighted his comments about how his show \u201chis show is not important, but living in a country that allows shows like his to exist is important.\u201d<\/p>\n This was \u201cthe catalyst for so much of the organic pushback and the consumer pushback that you saw against Disney\u2019s suspension to pull him in the first place,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I think that, to me, was the most significant takeaway \u2014 that\u2019s what this is about.\u201d<\/p>\n Darcy pointed out Kimmel\u2019s praise for the conservatives<\/a> who had defended him and showing they \u201cunderstand that the government shouldn\u2019t have a place in telling comedians what jokes they can make,\u201d calling it \u201ca very interesting tack\u201d to be quoting Sen.
