Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have reportedly called off their eight year on and off again relationship for the second time.<\/p>\n

The Coldplay singer and Fifty Shades of Grey star have been dating since 2017 and sparked engagement rumours during 2020, but break-up rumours swirled in 2024.<\/p>\n

However, despite the pair being spotted in Malibu together on May 16, a source told People the alleged split this time round was it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels final this time,\u201d the insider told the publication.<\/p>\n

In March 2024, a source told the outlet that Johnson and Martin had been engaged for \u201cyears\u201d after first sparking engagement rumours in 2020, though they were \u201cin no rush to get married\u201d at the time.<\/p>\n

When fans thought the pair had broken up in August, Johnson\u2019s representative denied the gossip by saying they were \u201chappily together\u201d.<\/p>\n

About the same time, a source said: \u201cSure, they\u2019ve had issues and taken breaks in the past but things are great now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Materialists actress previously spoke about being in the lives of Martin\u2019s two kids with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, son Moses and daughter Apple, now 19 and 21, respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love those kids like my life depends on it,\u201d Johnson told Bustle. \u201cWith all my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also told the outlet she was a big fan of watching Martin perform.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know. I love watching him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could watch him every day. I don\u2019t know how to explain it. I feel like I don\u2019t know … I\u2019m watching my most favourite being do his most favourite thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January, the pair held hands in India, where Martin was touring with his band.<\/p>\n

Johnson can be seen in upcoming romance movie Materialists, out June 13, alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times about the film on Wednesday, Johnson offered her opinion on people judging relationships.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a long time we\u2019ve all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen people should get married. Divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad?\u201d<\/p>\n
